One for your toolbox: 4 Community sites you might not have heard of

by Lee Smallwood on May 7, 2010

So as a break from the UK General Election chatter thats going on, and as it’s Friday, I wanted to bring back ‘One for your toolbox’. This week, I’m listing4 community sites that you might not have heard of. Are they the next big thing? Who can tell… only smarties have the answer – ahem cough(!)

Artician

Artician is a new community for creative professionals! They provide an effortless way for anyone to build, manage and fully customise their portfolio. They also like to promote and feature creative talent and show your work to the world.

Quite a few property types on there promoting their developments…

Gather

Gather is social networking grown up – the site where you can keep up with the people, conversations, and moments that matter.

Instrucables

Instructables is the Biggest How To and DIY community where people make and share inspiring; entertaining; and useful projects; recipes; and hacks.

Some very weird and wonderful things on there…!

Postcrossing

It’s a project that allows anyone to receive postcards (real ones; not electronic) from random places around the world.

The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world.

Why? Because there are lots of people who like to receive real mail…. loved this idea :)
