How long would it take you to learn all the 6,913 languages spoken in the world? (Source: Wiki Answers)
Are you really trying to work it out or are you Googling the question to see if there are 6,913 languages in the world?
Or did you say, ‘why would you want to?’
The point is that you shouldn’t, because if you try you’ll only end up spending all of your time trying to talk to everyone but no time spent talking with anyone!
So if that’s the case why do so many businesses ‘try’ to communicate with us in a language we don’t understand? People have evolved and when we see generic ‘one size fits all’ messages it’s like we’re being spoken to in a foreign language so, inevitably, we switch off!
The ‘As seen on TV‘ ads used to endorse a product to the masses are over. We’re living in the ‘As eaten by CloClo1‘ age! But who is CloClo1? She was one of the many people who left a review of Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food Ice Cream at ReviewCentre.com in June 2009, saying:
Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food is one of my favourite ice creams ever. It’s rich, but the marshmallows swirls make it light. It’s a bit expensive, and fattening, so we don’t have it that often. LOVELY!
And you know what, I understand and believe CloClo1; she is speaking my language! And even if I didn’t like that particular flavour ice cream, I know that she really does! But I do like it and I’ve added it to my list of things to buy this weekend (I haven’t had any for ages!).

I talk about the new ROI (return on involvement) a lot – maybe too much? Not enough? I don’t know, you tell me…. But if I wanted to sum up... - “Don’t knock the weather; nine-tenths of people couldn’t start a conversation if it didn’t change once in a while.”
Why is it that some people seem to be able to strike up a conversation with ease. Effortlessly moving from one subject to the next… Oh to have the ability...
