Never be afraid to try something new

“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic. “

This quote is above the bar at a village restaurant that we go to quite a lot.

We’ve been there quite a few times over the last 3 years, and each time the food has been great and so is the service. We’ve chatted to the owner and found out that when they purchased the pub the previous owner said that the Chef would remain with the pub.

Unfortunately for them it didn’t happen like that and the Chef went with the previous owner to a ‘new venture’. Talk about dropping them right in it!

Neither of the new owners – a husband and wife team – had any experience in running a pub or cooking for that matter… It was a daunting task.

But not being put off by the experience they rose to the challenge and the husband went on cooking courses and experimented with the food he liked to cook. They found out that he was ‘quite talented’ – a statement from their customers, not self praise…

People now travel from all over to eat there – and its best to book otherwise it might be full!

Knowing their history and the many challenges they first faced, the quote above the bar is very apt: it serves not only as a prompt to the regulars to sample new things but also as a reminder to them that no matter how difficult things get it’s amazing what can be achieved when you put your mind to it. http://www.vobsterinn.co.uk
